On 30 October 06 we left San Cristóbal de read Casas. The day before there was still another violent tempest the fact that into rivers it transformed the roads of the city and had strongly cooled down it. Today however again the sun and we shone drove by the mountains constantly downhill. In some places the rain the road had way-rinsed and/or. Everywhere clearing up work was under way. Instead of an excavator twenty were men with shovels at the work and we could everywhere happen. In the afternoon we reached the city Palenque in the middle in the jungle and the hot, damp tropical climate had us again. We found a camping site in the proximity of the Mayaruinen, which we visited on the next day. We could reach these to foot and hoped on the way one of the roaring apes to face to get, which had sensitively disturbed our night rest. The beasts make a hell noise! We saw unfortunately none. After the attendance with the ruins we made still another small jungle expedition. We went in a small brook, because over country is none come through possible. Constantly dies here something and something else begins to live. We saw few small apes and a heap other Kleingetier. At most we are to be seen probably passed without it. Insects look like sheets and at all are difficult animals in this sheet tangle to constitute… In the evening we listened again the unbelievable Greaeuschkulisse from the infinite, undurchdringbaren green behind our tent. Gluehwuermchen flashed by air and we were sure that hundred pairs of eyes from safe hiding places observed us… The dog of the camping site felt with us also well and because it always so good guarded us, dropped with the breakfast also some bitebite bites for it. Our journey direction northeast continued to go. On usually cord straight lines road Yukatan went through the jungle of the peninsula. Localities there were few and consisted usually only of a few poor Bretterbuden. At a gas station we met three Canadier, which likewise are with their motorcycles on the way to fire country. In Chetumal, at the east coast, the close border to Belize we stayed overnight and already looked forward again to the Caribikstraende, which we should reach on the next day. We wanted 300km after Playa del Carmen, approx. north of Chetumal, because it should have been there allegedly soo beautiful. We made ourselves timely on the way. To rain after one hour of travel fieng it on. For Regenklamotten it is here much too hot and too schwuehl. If it rains, then however correct and we were eingeweicht within a few seconds and despite wind one does not freeze. In Tulum it poured then so strongly that we could not drive on no more for the time being. The road did not stand for 30cm under water and one saw 5m deep far. In the Schrittempo we reached a gas station and were waiting only times. After a while we drove on. After further 60km reached we then Playa del Carmen, a city with 92,000 inhabitants. The only place to the campieren is in the pedestrian precinct and at the beach is a hotel beside the other and a forest of sunscreens. This was exactly the place to which we NEVER wanted. Thus we stood now there in our dripping wet Klamotten from which we now slowly however surely out wanted. We made ourselves cheap on the search for a lodging with safe parking lot and should it stop also still be. Not at all so easily in so a tourist city. Finally the Hostal Playa became our accommodation. We had to park the motorcycles on the Gehsteig, but the owner insured us that they stand here well and a night watchman is also always there… We quartierten ourselves in a four-bed room and hung our things up. With this high air humidity nothing becomes ever whole drying. The weather did not play also with continuous rains kept us so whole from one drives on starting from and also for the next days was cries improvement in view. Should that be our Caribikurlaub??? We go into Badeklamotten through the city, because it is not cold despite rains and around water becomes sowiso wet one. The weather improved then however nevertheless and it rained only briefly however violently and then came out also equal the sun again and again. Our room mates are Pedro, a teacher from Merida (Mexico) and Muriel, one of its students from Paris. Pedro knows itself on Yukatan naturally well out and we undertook with both trips into some Cinoten. A Cinote is an underground river by the jungle. On Yukatan it gives approx. eight thousand of it. In places where the soil broke in can one descend and in the highly transparent water swim, snorkels and dip. Each Cinote has its own character and we dipped off into bizarre worlds. The roots of the trees hang of the cover down, one float like a bird over ravines, it constantly give fish, the one anknabbern and bats. Once we swam in a river into the Mangrovenwald. Unfortunately the water was not red-brown cloudy by the rain and with snorkels was anything. It was its own feeling in this Bruehe by the jungle to swim… In Akumal, between Playa and Tulum, schnorchelten we to the close reef and saw water turtles, enormous skates and a great deal different fish and Korallen in thousands colors. Unfortunately played the waterproof one-way camera, which we had bought for this trip not with… One can book snorkel and Cenotetouren also for a heap money in the city with agencies, but with ours ¨Privatguide¨Pedro we saw all this nearly free. A few pesos for the bus travel and with the admission fees dei Pedro of always strong deductions acted the Cinoten out. We had much fun with the two and are glad that we were allowed to always go along with them. Also in the Hostal we met a great deal merry people… Thus we remained then nevertheless nearly one week in Playa, and/or stayed overnight to stop there, before we loaded our mitlerweile motorcycles totally in-made dust and again direction applied the south.
